Ed is a former Pipe Major of the Guelph Pipe Band which won the North American Championship under his leadership. During his innovative tunure the band introduced the tuning meter to pipe bands, was one of the first bands to use tenor drums of various pitches, and won the Intercontinental Pipe Band Championship at the Canadian National Exhibition.
A winner of the Dunvegan Gold Medal, Ed is in great demand for workshops and adjudication throughout North America, and is always bringing fresh material, such as his session on slow airs, to his many students.
